VIDEO: McDermott backs Wallaby forwards to step-up in wet Cape Town
WATCH as Wallaby scrumhalf Tate McDermott throws his backing behind his forward pack to show up in the Rugby Championship rematch between South Africa and Australia at Cape Town Stadium this Saturday.
Both sides won all their scrum feeds in the Ellis Park Test, but the Boks in open play were outsmarted and at times overpowered by the Wallaby forwards, which is a big red flag for the defending Rugby Championship holders.
The Wallabies also disrupted the Springboks’ line-out ball, with Nick Frost applying pressure and stealing balls throughout the match, which saw the Boks win merely 69 percent of their line-out throw-ins.

Set-pieces will be of utmost importance in the Cape Town Test, considering that the weather forecast from Tuesday until Saturday indicates a rainy week.
McDermott said that the Wallabies are comfortable playing in similar conditions, as they’ve recently experienced, and he is backing his forwards to stand up to the Boks once again.

“If you watched our last Test against the British and Irish Lions, we had torrential rain,” McDermott said.
“We’ve had some experience this year in playing in those conditions.
“Whenever you go up against the Boks, your forward back must be brilliant. Ours were good this past weekend.
“The challenge for them is to repeat that performance this coming weekend, knowing the likes of [Eben] Etzebeth and co will be raring to go.
“It will be a great challenge for the forwards, and they’re going to have to step up again.”
