NEWS: Former All Black assistant coach Joe Schmidt is set to take the Wallabies into a new chapter.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, the New Zealander is expected to be unveiled as Australia’s new head coach in the coming days with only paperwork still to be finalised.

The 58-year-old has been seen by many as the frontrunner since Eddie Jones left his post after a disastrous 2023 World Cup campaign.

The Wallabies only won two out of nine Tests under Jones last year.

Schmidt was recently part of Ian Foster’s All Blacks coaching team that suffered an 11-12 defeat to the Springboks in the Final of the World Cup.

He was in charge of Ireland between 2013 and 2019 and in that time, he helped the team reach the No.1 ranking for the first time.

Ireland won three Six Nations titles under Schmidt and they also recorded historic wins over the All Blacks during his tenure.
