White finally calls it a day
SPOTLIGHT: Australia scrumhalf Nic White has called time on his playing career for the second time this year.
The nuggety No.9 initially announced his retirement ahead of the Wallabies’ third Test against the British and Irish Lions, which the hosts went on to win to avoid a series whitewash.
However, a hamstring injury to Jake Gordon saw White make his return to the team and be named in Australia’s squad for the Rugby Championship tour to South Africa and the two Tests at home against Argentina.
White formed part of the first Australian team to defeat the Springboks at Ellis Park since 1963 and helped push the world champions close in Cape Town a week later.
He officially announced his retirement on social media, captioned, “I’m going to miss it”, while having a chat on video with fans in the crowd after the Wallabies’ recent narrow loss to Argentina.

The Wallabies will now have to do without the experienced playmaker’s services for their upcoming Bledisloe Cup Tests against New Zealand at Eden Park and the return fixture at Perth Stadium.
White retires with 77 Test caps and has 145 Super Rugby caps shared between the Brumbies and Western Force, respectively.
White also represented Montpellier on 57 occasions and Exeter on 61 occasions.
