'You saw Ireland do it': Wallabies have hope for Bok rematch

SPOTLIGHT: The Wallabies believe that it is possible to upset the Springboks in Perth despite their big defeat in the Rugby Championship opener in Brisbane last weekend.

The Wallabies were outplayed on their way to a 7-33 defeat to the Boks at Lang Park and there won’t be a lot of fans or pundits backing them to turn things around at Perth Stadium this weekend.

However, it seems the Australians will be taking some inspiration from Ireland who beat the Boks in Durban in July after suffering a defeat in Pretoria.

“We’ve got some things to look back on around our clutch moments,” said Luke Reimer, who was a loose forward replacement in Brisbane.

“The feeling, you come on, I just had to give it my all and do my job for the team no matter what the scoreline is. It’s the same job.

“There are moments in that game where you look at it, and you see, ‘It’s possible to beat them.’ At the end of the day, it’s whoever turns up.

“You saw Ireland do it a couple of weeks ago. There’s definitely opportunity around some of their weaknesses.

“We’ve got to have a good look at how we can attack, that we can implement that into this week.”

Another player who made his debut against the Springboks was Carlo Tizzano.

Tizzano started in the No.7 jersey after Fraser McReight was ruled out with a thumb injury.

“I really love that I got just thrown straight in the deep end against the best in the world,” said Tizzano.

“That’s an awesome way to test all the hard work you’ve been putting in over the years since you’re a kid and to see where you put yourself.

“We’re going to attack this week, we’re really excited for it and we’re up for the challenge,” he added.

“They’re the best in the world and we want to be the best in the world so what better than to play them two weeks in a row so we can make the adjustments and go from there.”
