Brive back in Top14
MATCH REPORT: Brive will return to the French Top 14 next season following their 28-22 defeat of Grenoble in Sunday’s promotion/relegation play-off.
Franck Romanet, Samuel Marques and Otar Giorgadze all crossed for Brive, who were also awarded a penalty try, as they reclaimed their place in the top tier after just one season in Pro D2.
It was second time lucky for former European champions Brive after they lost 21-19 to Bayonne in a dramatic Pro D2 final last weekend.
Grenoble’s stay in the Top 14 proved short-lived having only sealed promotion to the elite division at the end of the 2017/18 campaign.
Gaetan Germain kicked five penalties for Grenoble, who finished second-from-bottom this season, but it wasn’t enough to prevent his side from dropping into the second division along with Perpignan.
