Bruised lung puts Hartley in hospital

England hooker Dylan Hartley needed hospital treatment after suffering bruising to a lung during Saturday's 22-30 defeat to New Zealand at Twickenham.

The 27-year-old Northampton player produced a fine display before being forced off after 50 minutes.

England said in a statement hat Hartley was taken to hospital after the match.

"He was further assessed at Pennyhill Park this [Sunday] morning by the England medical team and has been discharged into the care of Northampton Saints," the statement said.

"Dylan will require a few days’ rest and will be re-assessed by his club’s medical team next week."

New Zealand-born Hartley won his 50th cap for England against the All Blacks.
