Eddie adds more muscle to England squad

SQUAD ANNOUNCEMENT: England have included Wasps hooker Alfie Barbeary in their squad for Sunday’s Nations Cup final against France.

Barbeary made his first English Premiership start in September and has already scored six tries.

Eddie Jones’ 33-man squad also includes Joe Marchant and Jacob Umaga, who both return after injuries.

While Jonathan Joseph has withdrawn from the squad with a calf injury.

England secured their place in the Twickenham final after topping Pool A with wins against Georgia, Ireland and Wales.

They are aiming to be crowned champions of a competition that has replaced the traditional end-of-year tours by the southern hemisphere giants.

England hooker Jamie George wants them to finish a draining campaign on a high note with a dynamic display against old rivals France.

“Our main focus is the end of a long campaign when we know the easy thing to do would be to take our foot off the gas, but we have a few extra gears to go to,” George said.

“That’s going to be the main focus this week and hopefully we can put it out there on Sunday.

“The way we’ve got to look at it is that it’s a final and then there’s the history between the teams over the last 12 months.”
