England face back-three juggle following defeat to Boks
TEAM UPDATE: England head coach Steve Borthwick has revealed fullback George Furbank’s replacement following a raft of injuries.
Borthwick has added Sale Sharks wing Tom Roebuck to the squad at the back of Saturday’s 21-45 loss to South Africa at Ellis Park.
Roebuck replaces Northampton fullback Furbank, who was ruled out of the clash after being rushed to hospital with appendicitis.
The 29-year-old began suffering symptoms after Friday’s captain’s run at Ellis Park.
Meanwhile, winger Cadan Murley, who started the defeat by the Springboks, and Freddie Steward, the squad’s only specialist fullback, are suffering with shoulder and ankle knocks respectively.
Bristol Bears’ South African-born centre Benhard Janse van Rensburg comes into contention for his first Test cap, having completed five years’ residency and been the subject of a successful appeal by the RFU over his eligibility.
England will take on Fiji at the Hill Dickinson Stadium in Liverpool on Saturday.
