Jones: Scotland hold advantage

Jones believes Scotland's performance at the 2015 World Cup as well as limited time with his new side mean Vern Cotter's men are favourites at the weekend.

"We knew we only had two weeks so we had to plan it that way but we are confident, we'll be well prepared for the Scotland game," Jones told englandrugby.com.

"Scotland did very well, probably had one of their best World Cups ever and England didn't so it gives Scotland an advantage."

Cotter's side exited the World Cup at the quarterfinal stage while England failed to get out of their Pool.

"In reality they've got an 18-month head start on us in terms of their development but we've worked hard and there is still the nucleus of the team that played together in the World Cup for us, so that is an advantage," Joned added.

Jones: Scotland hold advantageThe former Japan head coach took over as England's new boss in November and is preparing for his first game in charge.

He says he "cannot wait" for the game at Murrayfield and added he has been impressed by the attitude of his players in the short time he has spent with them at the Pennyhill Park training base.

"We've done some good work and I've been really impressed with the players attitude, effort and want to make England into a winning team.  "At this point we are moving in the right direction."

Jones is also aware of the welcome awaiting his side north of the border but says he is ready for the challenge.

"I've only been there [Murayfield] with Australia and Japan, it's always a tricky place, they are canny the Scots. They always have little tricks up there sleeve so we need to be well prepared for it."
