Pape: We've won nothing yet
However, he warned that they have not achieved anything yet.
Saint-Andre was speaking after France downed England 25-20 in the second of their back-to-back World Cup warm-up matches, in Paris at the weekend.
Flyhalf Frederic Michalak kicked 17 points as he became France's all-time leading scorer.
France were worthy winners although they had to endure a nervy last 10 minutes when England, trailing 6-25 at the time, scored two quickfire tries.
"We are where we wanted to be after seven weeks of preparation and after two matches against England," Saint-Andre said.
"To make a good World Cup campaign we must face the best.
"There was a lot of intensity and the win is good for the confidence of this group, because we knew we had to win this showdown – even though it was quite close in the end," he added.
Saint-Andre said the win showed that France could compete with any team.
However, he felt the team' fitness needed some work, as they struggled to last the pace – with England coming close to a late winner.
Lock Pascal Pape, who captained the team at the weekend, said he was pleased with the discipline in an intense battle.
"It is something we have been working hard – with French referees who have come to help us in that regard," Pape said.
Pape said the win will give the French confidence and belief, seeing that their hard work is beginning to pay dividends.
"We have been working hard for seven weeks, but we have won nothing yet and there is plenty of work still to be done.
"We are very happy, because we had just one goal and that was to win. We achieved that."
