Player ratings: No coming back
England fought hard in the second half, but there was no coming back after a devastating first half from the All Blacks in Hamilton on Saturday.
New Zealand scored four unanswered tries before half-time to effectively put the game to bed halfway through as they secured a series whitewash over the visitors.
England regrouped well after the break and showed some encouraging fighting spirit, but it was not enough to avoid a 36-13 defeat at the Waikato Stadium.
It was the last game of the season at the end of a tough tour in which England had been competitive, but the final Test was a bridge too far as they went down to an All Blacks side that equalled the record for consecutive Tier One Test victories.
We rate the England players:
15 Mike Brown
Put under considerable pressure and looked rushed as he made a few uncharacteristic errors but was pretty good under the high ball and even forced a turnover at the breakdown.
6/10
14 Chris Ashton
A nightmare game for the wing who was exposed time and again on defence, both his positional play and tackling were found wanting as his opposite number ran in a hat-trick.
3/10
13 Manu Tuilagi
Ran hard and straight as usual and looked more at home in the midfield than he did out on the wing last week but missed a few tackles and his handling was not its usual standard.
6/10
12 Kyle Eastmond
Didn't see much ball at all in his limited time on the park but ran hard when he got the chance. Made nine tackles as he dealt with plenty of traffic in his channel but missed three.
5/10
11 Marland Yarde
England's most threatening attacking player and got over for their only try, but his defence was not good enough as the All Blacks backs ran roit.
6/10
10 Freddie Burns
A mix of good and bad from the young flyhalf, he made a few unforced errors and his kicking was quite erratic but was fairly solid in defence.
6/10
9 Ben Youngs
Probably the best backline player for England on the day, he made a few telling breaks, running good support lines and his kicking game was impressive as well.
7/10
8 Billy Vunipola
Brought his usual physicality and got over the gainline well. Was a little unlucky to be shown a yellow card for his high tackle on Aaron Cruden which put his side under even more pressure.
6/10
7 Chris Robshaw
Never stopped trying in a losing cause, he proved a reliable line-out option, worked hard at the breakdown for little reward and got a few good offloads away.
6/10
6 Tom Wood
Showed great commitment in defence as he got through pleny of tackles and provided good support as he hit the rucks hard, but his handling let him down a few times.
6/10
5 Joe Launchbury
Did well in the air at both restarts and line-outs, wobbled off for a concussion test but showed some nice touches when he returned to the field.
6/10
4 Courtney Lawes
Lost some line-out ball and his hands were not great but proved his worth by putting good pressure on the breakdown and making some big tackles.
5/10
3 David Wilson
Under pressure in the scrums and did his best to get involved around the park but did not have the impact he did earlier in the tour.
6/10
2 Dylan Hartley
Not his best outing, his line-out ball was poached a few times and he battled to impose himself in open play.
5/10
1 Joe Marler
Tough game from the loosehead who was blown up repeatedly at scrum-time and at the breakdown whilst his handling was also poor.
4/10
Replacements:
16 Rob Webber (On for Hartley, 56 mins)
Performed his core roles well and got his team on the front foot on attack and defence.
6/10
17 Matt Mullan (On for Marler, 65 mins)
worked hard in his time on the park and was solid in the set phases.
6/10
18 Kieran Brookes (On for Wilson, 56 mins)
The England scrum firmed up considerably after he came on whilst he also made a few telling tackles.
7/10
19 Dave Atwood (On for Launchbury, 65 mins)
Added some power at the end of the game and made some big tackles.
6/10
20 Ben Morgan (On for Vunipola, 56 mins)
Took the All Blacks on physically and added some grunt in the tight phases but was marked closely and shut down pretty quickly.
6/10
21 Lee Dickson (On for Youngs, 71 mins)
Not enough time to be rated.
22 Danny Cipriani (On for Burns, 59 mins)
Took the line on and had some nice touches whilst his kicking was also good.
7/10
23 Luther Burrell (On for Eastmond, 40 mins)
Looked for work and ran good support lines but did not get a lot of opportunities.
6/10
