Springboks stars reap more rewards

NEWS: Springbok World Cup winners Lukhanyo Am, Makazole Mapimpi, Tendai Mtawarira and Herschel Jantjies have been added to the Barbarians squad.

The South African stars will be in action when the Barbarians take on Fiji at Twickenham followed by matches against Brazil in Sao Paolo and Wales at the Principality Stadium.

Leading the Barbarians’ coaching team at Twickenham on November 16 is England and World Cup finalist coach Eddie Jones.

However, Wales World Cup semifinalist coach Warren Gatland will take the reigns for the Barbarians in Cardiff, while his successor Wayne Pivac will lead Wales for the first time.

Stormers scrumhalf Jantjies and Sharks duo Am and Mapimpi will all be making their Barbarians debuts after their impressive performances during the Springboks World Cup campaign.

While South Africa’s most capped prop and third most capped player ever Mtawarira will be making his third appearance in the Barbarian jersey.

Joining the Mtawarira in the pack is Ireland legend Rory Best.

The 124-capped world-class hooker recently called time on a stellar international career that included three Six Nations Championships, two Lions Tours and a historic and memorable 40-29 maiden win against the All Blacks at Soldier’s Field, Chicago, in November 2016.
