SPOTLIGHT: It is all to play for when the Western Province Women take on Boland Dames this weekend in Cape Town.

There is no love lost between the two teams and this weekend they will add another chapter to their already-long rivalry.

The Boland Dames and WP Women are the only two teams that can vie for a spot in the Women’s Premier Divison Final.

The Boland Dames are second on the Women’s Premier Division table with 26 points, just one point clear of third-placed WP.

The neighbours will go head to head this Saturday at the Rosina Paarwater Stadium in Bellville for a spot in the Final against Bulls Daisies at Loftus Versfeld.

“It is going to be tough,” Springbok Women and Boland Dames utility back Veroeshka Grain told Rugby365 when asked about her expectations of the upcoming fixture.

“It is certainly one to watch because it’s do or die. The one victorious after the 80 minutes will face Bulls Daisies in the Final.

“We as a team have set goals for ourselves and given that it is just a single round of matches, we want to win them all to get the Final.”

Saturday’s encounter is a repeat of last season’s semifinal clash, where WP secured a narrow 20-17 win over Boland Dames.

It was a close encounter, and it is certainly one Grain wants to avenge.

Aside from the former WP back Grain, Boland Dames will have some other threats in the form of Aseza Hele, Nomawethu Mabenge and Maceala Samboya

“This weekend is a must-win because we want to play in the Final.

“Last season we fell short against WP in the semifinal, so we want to rectify last season’s mistakes.”

“It is always a battle between WP and Dames, we have beaten them before and it going to be a fight.”
