Fiji, Tonga to meet in WC warm-ups

Fiji and Tonga will meet in home and away Tests next year in the build-up to the World Cup in New Zealand.

The matches, announced by the Fiji Rugby Union on Monday, will be in addition to the annual Pacific Nations Cup tournament involving Fiji, Tonga, Samoa and Japan.

Fiji Rugby Union Chief Executive Keni Dakuidreketi told the Fiji Times that his organization was also trying to arrange warm-up matches against Super 15 teams.

Dakuidreketi hoped Fiji would have as many as six Tests next season ahead of the World Cup.

Tonga is due to play the opening Cup match against New Zealand at Auckland on September 9.
