Hook answers Wales SOS
Gloucester flyhalf James Hook has been called up to the Welsh squad for their next two matches of November Tests.
In a brief statement issued on Sunday the Welsh Rugby Union confirmed Hook will link up with the squad on Monday, when they gather to prepare for next Saturday's clash against Fiji.
No players have been released from the squad.
The call-up of Hook to coach Warren Gatland's squad comes in the wake of an injury crisis at flyhalf.
Dan Biggar damaged his groin during the 28-33 defeat to Australia at the weekend and is in doubt for the rest of the November campaign.
The Ospreys playmaker looked in real discomfort as he limped off the field early in the second half at the Millennium Stadium.
There was further bad news for Wales, with flyhalf candidate Rhys Patchell having been ruled out for two months with a pulled hamstring.
It could force Gatland to fast-track New Zealand import Gareth Anscombe for the final match of their year-end tests, against South Africa on November 29.
The vastly-experienced Hook will compete with Rhys Priestland for the No.10 jersey for the next two games – against Fiji and New Zealand.
However, he is not be available to play against South Africa, as that match falls outside the IRB Test window.
English do not release players for games outside the IRB window.
