Ma'afu cops one-week ban

Fiji prop Campese Ma'afu was suspended for a week for being sent off for two yellow-card offenses in the 17-13 loss to Wales at Cardiff last weekend.

Ma'afu appeared before an independent Six Nations disciplinary hearing on Tuesday.

He was sin-binned at the end of the first half for collapsing a maul, then not long after he returned to action in the second half, yellow-carded again for taking out the legs of a leaping Bradley Davies in a lineout.

The disciplinary committee prioritized the persistent offending rather than the substance of the offenses in suspending Ma'afu until Monday.

This means he will miss Fiji's third and last European tour match against the United States on Friday in Vannes, France.
