Two Fijians suspended

Back row forward Sisa Koyamaibole and flyhalf Waisea Luveniyali will miss Fiji’s one-off Test against New Zealand on Friday after being sent off in last week’s Pacific Nations Cup match against Japan.

Luveniyali was suspended for four weeks and Koyamaibole for two weeks by International Rugby Board judicial officer Mosese Naivalu at a hearing in Suva.

Fiji was due to announce its team for the All Blacks test on Saturday but delayed its announcement until Monday to await the outcome of the hearing and the New Zealand government’s decision on the visa eligibility of its players.

New Zealand has refused visas to members of the Fiji military and their families since a 2006 military coup in the Pacific nation.
