All Blacks lose a star ahead of France series
INJURY UPDATE: The All Blacks will be without one of their star loose forwards when they face France in a three-Test series next month.
On Thursday, New Zealand announced that Wallace Sititi has been ruled out due to a “high ankle injury” following a consultation with a surgeon on Wednesday.
The explosive forward was initially slated to miss the entirety of the Super Rugby Pacific season after undergoing knee surgery in the off-season, but was cleared to make an early return to join the Chiefs’ play-off run.
He will now require surgery on his ankle, ruling him out of the July series.
A further medical assessment will be made in three weeks to determine his likely return to play.
Christian Lio-Willie has come into the squad to replace Sititi, and Dalton Papali’I has replaced Lio-Willie as injury cover for Luke Jacobson.
