The Springboks gathered in Johannesburg on Monday to start preparations for a four-Test trip that will see them take on Ireland, France, Italy and Wales on consecutive weekends.

The tour represents the halfway point between World Cup and Coetzee believes he has the core with which he can build a successful combination in the next two years.

"I am really happy with the group that I have selected," the Bok coach said about his 34-man squad.

"The continuity for me is really a big plus.

"The players have been working with the coaches and they understand the philosophy,"he said, adding: "They understand the culture and team environment."

Coetzee spoke of a "tough tour", but added the players are "rejuvenated" after the contracted Boks had a few weeks off at the end of the Rugby Championship.

"It is the first time we have retained the continuity to this extent," the coach said, adding: "There are players on the periphery, due to injury.

"We have a core group of 40 players we looked at and the bulk of them are still with us."
