Bismarck: Destination unknown
The Du Plessis brothers, Bismarck and Jannie, may not move to the Jake White-coached French club Montpellier after all.
They will play their last match for the Sharks against the Stormers in Durban on Saturday.
It was confirmed earlier this week that the two brothers, and loose forward Willem Alberts, will depart Durban after this week's fixture.
Alberts has been linked with a move to French giants Stade Francais, although – like the Du Plessis brothers – nothing has been confirmed.
Bismarck du Plessis further fanned the flames of speculation when he said that he hadn't decided yet where he was heading.
"For me, I am a passionate Shark," Du Plessis said, when asked about his departure from Durban.
"I don't know where I will be heading exactly," he added.
However, he dropped a not so subtle hint that his destination is abroad, saying that if he was ever to return to South African it would only be to join the Sharks.
"I'm a very principle-based guy and I won't go anywhere else," the younger of the two Du Plessis brothers said.
"If ever I get the opportunity to come back again, and the coaching staff think I can add value, I will most likely take them up on that offer.
"I will miss this place with everything I have."
Du Plessis said Saturday was not about the Sharks playing for those who are departing.
"I don't play for any accolades, I just play for my teammates and the respect I have for the guys who play with me.
"This is going to be a very sad day, to be leaving The Sharks. I guess I never thought this day would arrive.
"I'm the biggest Sharks fan and always will be. It's about being the best and staying at the top of your game.
"It's always about those succession plans when somebody leaves, and when someone comes in and whether he will be able to do the job. But I think the Sharks are in a great space and I don't think there is any better culture or place to play rugby."
