Dupont eyes SA team fixture for on-field return
INJURY UPDATE: Antoine Dupont has revealed the timeline for his on-field return, targeting a South African team for his first match back.
Dupont’s been out since France’s Six Nations win over Ireland last March.
The French superstar ruptured cruciate ligaments in his knee, sidelining him from the action for months.
But there seems to be light at the end of the tunnel for the scrumhalf.
Speaking to a local broadcaster last week, Dupont explained how his recovery is going.
“It’s going well, but it’s still been a long one”, he said.
“It’s the second time I’ve done my cruciate ligaments, so I’d rather be patient with it and do everything right to be able to come back stronger”.
He went on to reveal a possible date for when fans can expect to see him back on the field:
“End of November or early December, but it won’t be before then”, he explained.
Club side Stade Toulousain’s opening Champions Cup game is against the Sharks on December 7.
Provided that everything follows its course, Dupont’s return could be perfectly timed for the six-time champions.
Derby-day delight
Even without Dupont in their armoury, Stade Toulousain have known a successful start to this TOP 14 campaign.
They may have had a shock to the system losing to Montpellier on matchday three, but the Toulousains were back firing on Saturday.
A Guillaume Cramont hat-trick inspired Ugo Mola’s men to an emphatic 59-12 derby-day win over local rivals Castres Olympique.
