France star learns his disciplinary fate ahead of All Black series
UPDATE: France forward Cameron Woki is free to face the All Blacks in July after it was deemed that he should not have received a red card against England XV last Saturday.
The 26-year-old was sent off in the second half of the France XV’s 26-24 win at Twickenham Stadium. He was originally given a yellow card before the bunker review system upgraded it to a red.
However, an independent disciplinary committee ruled that the “action did not warrant a red card”.
France will face the All Blacks in a three-Test series without a number of front-line players, who are going to be rested after a gruelling club campaign.
That’s why the news on Woki will be a relief for head coach Fabien Galthie as he would not have wanted to lose any more players.
“Cameron Woki appeared before an independent disciplinary committee on 24 June, 2025 as a result of a referral by a Foul Play Review Committee having received a red card for a breach of law 9.20[a] [dangerous clearout] in England XV v France XV on Saturday, 21 June,” said a statement.
“The independent disciplinary committee was chaired by Adam Casselden SC, joined by former international rugby player John Langford [Australia], and former international referee Valeriu Toma [Romania].
“Having reviewed the available footage and additional angles, the committee determined that the action did not warrant a red card.
“The Committee found that there was not a high degree of danger in the action and therefore, under the Head Contact Process, a red card should not have been issued.
“The player is therefore free to play.”
