Giteau rejects Racing Metro

Matt Giteau will stay at Toulon player for another two seasons at least after signing a new contract with the double-winners.

This comes after the 92 Test cap Wallaby attracted the attentions of Racing Metro who were reportedly prepared to make Giteau the first player to earn €1m a season.

Giteau played an integral role in Toulon's charge to the European Cup and Top 14 last term and with his contract up at the end of the current campaign his future was up in the air.

Giteau joined Toulon following the 2011 Rugby World Cup, although he surprisingly wasn't selected for the tournament.

His last appearance for the Wallabies was in the defeat to Samoa in Sydney.

The utility back's new two-year contract has the option of a third year.
