"The Raiders have been great for my career and my family and it has been a hard decision for me to make," Waqa said in a club statement.

"I'm looking forward to finishing my time with the Raiders on a high and I'll keep working hard at training with the boys and hopefully get a chance to play again for the Raiders before I leave the NRL."

Waqa played for Sydney Roosters in 2009 and Melbourne Storm from 2011 to 2014, winning the NRL title in 2012. Last season he played 21 matches with Canberra Raiders, scoring six tries.

"He's a real offensive weapon," said Grenoble coach Bernard Jackman.

"He has a different profile from the players we currently have in the squad. He can play in positions 11 to 15, but it is on the wing that he can become a star in France."
