Irish bruised but not broken

A number of Irish players reported bumps and bruises following a very physical encounter with Italy but none are considered injury concerns.

Those who came out the worst are prop Cian Healy and prolific flyhalf Johnny Sexton.

Healy took a knock to his ankle scoring his try and In an effort to expedite his recovery and limit swelling he was put in a boot overnight but is already recovering well.

Sexton was an injury concern coming into the game against Italy with his injured thumb but it held up well and was no a problem.

Reserve prop Jack McGrath made mention of the brutal Italian pack. "(The performance) was a stepping stone. They (Italy) were a big, tough pack so it was good to get stuck into them and they really worked our maul today. He said.

"There's a few parts we can work on in that, and our scrum as well."

The Irish face the French in Paris with the outcome playing a major role in determining who will be the Six Nations champions. They will be grateful that there are no major injury concerns in what will be Brian O'Driscoll's final game for his country.
