Van Rensburg, who joined the Sharks in 2022 from the Sale Sharks in England signed on the dotted line to join Bordeaux-Begles after months of speculation on his future after his early release from the Durban-based outfit in February 2024.

Bordeaux-Begles also announced the signing of Ireland and Munster flyhalf Joey Carbery.

Carbery, who started his career off with Leinster with a stint between 2016 and 2018 before signing with Munster, played 38 times for the Ireland national side.

He served as the backup flyhalf for Jonathan Sexton at the 2019 World Cup who retired in 2023

Carbery will have a steep challenge for the No.10 jumper with France flyhalf Matthieu Jalibert currently the preferred pivot.

The club’s president Laurent Marti also confirmed the signing wing Enzo Reybier from fellow French side Oyonnax.
