Parisse Top 14's Player of the Year

The 32-year-old Italy captain guided his Parisian team to the Top 14 title last season, marking the feat with a stunning pass out of the back of his hand to set up a try in Stade's shock 33-16 victory over European champions Toulon in the semi-finals.

Parisse succeeds Toulon's versatile Australian international back Matt Giteau.

"From a personal point of view I'm truly proud," said Argentine-born Parisse, who joined Stade in 2007.

"But I'm mostly delighted for the team, the club, the youngsters who enabled us to win this title (the Top 14).

"We're a long way from it right now (Stade are down in 11th this season) but it's enjoyable remembering the verve of last season."

Originally programmed for November 23 last year, the award ceremony was postponed following the Paris terror attacks 10 days earlier.
