Farrell who’s last act in an England jersey came in the third-place playoff at the 2023 World Cup, has had a struggling transition to life in the Top 14 despite starting in eight of his side’s nine matches.

He was replaced after just 32 minutes in Racing’s last clash against Pau.

The flyhalf started the season as the No.1 goalkicker but then gave way to others, notably scrumhalf Nolann Le Garrec, with Racing citing a thigh problem.

“The whole of the medical and sporting staff will accompany him [Farrell] throughout his recovery to ensure that he makes the best possible recuperation,” Racing said in their statement.

After two weekends of not playing, eighth-placed racing return to action on November 24 with the Paris derby against Stade Francais.
