Sale dismiss Bok scrumhalf rumours

Sale dismiss Bok scrumhalf rumoursSale's Director of Rugby Steve Diamond also dismissed reports linking the club with disgraced Wallaby James O'Connor.

O'Connor is contracted to Toulon in France, where has been caught up in a cocaine saga.

De Klerk featured for the Lions in their Super Rugby win over the Stormers at the weekend.

"I have not spoken to either player and don't know where the speculation has come from," Diamond said.

"We have announced several new signings recently and we are in negotiations with several more players.

"Once they sign a Sharks contract we will make announcements."

South African media reports recently suggested Sale was busy talking to De Klerk.

It was rumoured that the scrumhalf has been offered a three-year contract, worth ZAR21-million.

De Klerk's omission from the most recent Bok training camp in Stellenbosch has been listed as one of the key reasons why he would move abroad.

However, De Klerk is contracted to the Lions until the end of the 2018 season and Lions CEO Rudolf Straeuli said he will honour the contract.

Straeuli took a swipe at agents who negotiated on behalf of players outside of the 'transfer window'.
