Sexton injury opens door for Goosen
Racing Metro's Ireland flyhalf Jonathan Sexton is facing up to six weeks on the sidelines after fracturing his jaw in the weekend win over Toulon.
Sexton, who came off in the 50th minute of Saturday's 17-10 victory over the French champions, is due to miss Racing's four upcoming Top 14 games.
But he should be fit in time for the start of his team's European Cup campaign against Northampton on October 18.
Sexton took a hit when tackled by Toulon's Craig Burden early in Saturday's game, but he soldiered on, kicking two conversions, before being replaced by Johan Goosen.
With Sexton out injured, a door has been opened for Springbok flyhalf Johan Goosen to find a starting spot in Racing's team.
The former Cheetahs flyhalf has struggled for game time in these early stages of the French Top 14 but should be the next logical choice at No.10
Sexton, who was recently offered a four-year deal by Racing Metro after his contract concludes in June, now has two choices now – to stick with the French club or to return to Ireland, and potentially his old team Leinster.
