Stade's Bok prop sidelined

Stade Francais' South African prop Heinke van der Merwe had surgery on a torn biceps tendon.

It will keep him out of action for four months, according to the Parisian club's coach Gonzalo Quesada.

The 29-year-old Van der Merwe, capped four times by the Springboks, sustained the injury in 23-3 defeat by Montpellier earlier this month.

Van der Merwe arrived at Stade Francais in the off season last year and quickly established himself as one of the Top 14's leading loosehead props.
