Vermeulen aggravates neck injury

Vermeulen left the field in the 44th minute after his attempt to prevent Maxime Medard from scoring went horribly wrong.

Toulon's forwards coach, Jacques Delmas explained that the hard-hitting No.8, who underwent neck surgery in July 2015, was taken to hospital with a head injury.

In addition to Vermeulen's injury, Toulon suffered a further blow in the forwards department after lock Romain Taofifenua suffered a dislocated shoulder.

No further details of the extent of Vermeulen's injury have been made public.
