VIDEO: France reveal their #RWC2025 jersey
SPOTLIGHT: Springboks Women’s pool opponents, France, have revealed their 2025 World Cup design.
The jersey that the Les Bleues will wear has been designed hand in hand with the players of the France national team.
The kit is based on feedback from the field and dedicated workshops with the players.
It is a design that has been made to celebrate the identity of the women’s team, but also to underline their determination to make their mark on this World Cup.
In addition, the new fit of the jersey is based directly on the morphological measurements of the players. Inspired by the motto of the women’s XV, “Who dares wins”, the design of the jerseys offers a bold interpretation with references to the rooster and baroque motifs.
Every detail, from the ball inserts to the embroidery-effect finish, embodies the power, tricolour pride and elegance of the game. To pay tribute to England, the host country of this edition, three symbolic roses are embroidered on the back, just above the collar, recalling the roots of women’s rugby.
Manae Feleu, co-captain of the France women’s team, said: “These jerseys represent much more than a piece of equipment: they are a symbol of our collective identity, a real visual manifesto.
“We wanted to create a kit in our image, which reflects our passion and our desire to make our mark on this World Cup.
“We are determined to give the best of ourselves, wearing this jersey always has a special meaning, a symbol of pride and commitment.”
Co-captian Marine Ménager added: “This new jersey is a reflection of our collective ambition and our high standards for performance.
“Thanks to a close and constructive collaboration, every detail has been designed to meet the requirements of the international level. We are proud to wear a jersey that fully embodies our commitment, determination and goals for this World Cup.”
France will open their World Cup campaign against Italy, followed by a fixture against Brazil before a showdown with the Springboks Women in the final game of Pool D.
The side suffered a major blow with the news that talismanic scrumhalf Bourdon Sansus will miss her nation’s first World Cup 2025 match against Italy on August 23. She was suspended for two matches following her comments on refereeing standards in France’s Elite 1 club competition.
Sansus, who was nominated for World Rugby’s 2024 Player of the Year award, will also miss France’s final World Cup warm-up match versus England on August 9.
It is a challenge for the world No. 4-ranked side, with Sansus lighting up the 2025 Women’s Six Nations, not least with this magical drop goal.
Sansus will return for France’s second Pool D match against Brazil on August 31.
