6NB: Two rounds to go
This is the penultimate round of Division 1 of the FIRA-AER’s European Nations Cup, the so-called Sis Nations B. Two things are to be decided – who will be champions and who will come third.
Georgia and, for the first time. Russia have booked their passages to the 2011 World Cup in New Zealand. All is not lost for the team coming third for they get another chance through répechage. this will be decided between Romania and Portugal who play each other in the last round.
Of the two Romania have quite the harder task – playing Georgia in Georgia with the Antim Cup at stake, a trophy played for just between the two of them and named for a saint common to both countries.
Portugal on the other hand go across to Madrid to take on the keen Spaniards who will be angry at having slipped from the Iberian crown it once had.
Germany, the most amateur of the countries, will be relegated next year – barring a massive miracle. They have a much weakened side for this match.
