Eagles star cleared to play

US Eagles outside centre Paul Emerick was cleared to play Georgia following a disciplinary hearing which arose as a result of the player being cited following the match between Scotland A and the USA last week.

Emerick had been cited for an alleged dangerous tackle contrary to law 10.4(e)

The hearing convened via video link between Dublin and Tbilisi, Georgia, where the player and his representatives were located.

In upholding the citing by Russell Howell, independent Six Nations Citing Commissioner for the match, the independent Six Nations disciplinary committee, chaired by Antony Davies (England) and also including Pat Barriscale (Ireland) and John Doubleday (England) concluded that the tackle committed by the player, although dangerous, did not warrant a red card and that the yellow card awarded by the referee at the time was appropriate.
