Georgian prop in fitness race

Clermont’s Georgian international prop Davit Zirakashvili is racing to be fit for the World Cup after suffering a right knee sprain training with the French Top 14 team.

The 23-year-old missed Friday’s friendly between the Georgian national team and French Pro D2 side Bourgoin-Jallieu here, which the visitors won 28-15.

Tests in Clermont-Ferrand were positive concerning Zirakashvili’s participation in next month’s World Cup.

Capped 28 times for Georgia, Zirakashvili has been participating in a training camp in Puy-de-Dome region of central France for the past two weeks.
