Ireland dealt massive backline blow ahead of Springbok showdown
INJURY UPDATE: Ireland are set to be without one of their most influential players when they return to action in the Nations Championship next month.
Centre Garry Ringrose will miss the three Tests against Argentina, Fiji and the Springboks due to a hamstring injury.
The Irish Rugby Football Union confirmed on Tuesday that Ringrose is ‘unlikely’ to feature in the November Tests and will continue his rehabilitation with his club, Leinster.
Ringrose, who has represented his nation 76 times, missed Leinster’s 24-18 victory over Munster in Round Four of the Vodacom United Rugby Championship last Saturday.
Ireland are also sweating over the availability of utility back Jimmy O’Brien, who sustained a concussion at the weekend.
The IRFU say he will follow a graduated return with the aim of resuming full training later this week.
Flyhalf Sam Prendergast is also recovering from a wrist injury, is progressing well, and will continue his rehabilitation with the national side.
Head coach Andy Farrell has not called up any replacements.
