Ireland give Kidney the boot
Declan Kidney's contract as Ireland coach will not be renewed when it expires in June and Les Kiss will take over as interim coach.
The 53-year-old – who guided Ireland to the 2009 Six Nations Grand Slam and won the world coach of the year award as a result – had been widely expected not to have his contract renewed at the end of June after a disappointing Six Nations.
The decision was made following an in-depth review process carried out by the IRFU's National Team Review Group.
The IRFU will continue the process of identifying suitable candidates for the permanent role, and Kiss will take charge of the team for the tour of North Americain June.
He will be assisted by assistant coaches Gert Smal and Anthony Foley.
