Ireland star gets green light for Bok showdown
UPDATE: Ireland’s pack will be significantly boosted for their Nations Series showdown against the Springboks in Dublin on Saturday.
On Monday, the Irish camp confirmed that star forward Josh van der Flier is available for selection after recovering from a hamstring strain.
He suffered the injury in his side’s end-of-year opener against New Zealand in Chicago, which Ireland lost 13-26.
Van der Flier missed the victories over Japan and Australia.
Ireland also confirmed Garry Ringrose’s return to training, while prop Thomas Clarkson has cleared all HIA protocols and is set to train fully this week.
The bad news for Ireland is that Stuart McCloskey has had a recurrence of a groin injury and will miss out.
The team to face the Springboks will be announced on Thursday.
