Potential positive COVID case in Ireland squad

NEWS: There could be a spanner in the works when it comes to Ireland’s preparations for Saturday’s clash against the All Blacks.

Ahead of that clash in Dublin, the Irish Rugby Football Union revealed that “a potential positive case has been identified in one person via the latest PCR testing carried out on the Ireland squad”.

The IRFU did not reveal if the case is from a player or someone from the management staff.

“Additional testing is being undertaken to establish if this is a false positive,” said a statement from the IRFU.

“The entire Ireland squad and management have undergone additional lateral flow and PCR testing today [Friday].

“The lateral flow testing returned no positives and the PCR results are expected later today.”

The Irish are currently on a good run with six successive Test wins including a 60-5 rout of Japan last Saturday.
