Bulls will take some stopping
The Bulls and Lions are the only teams yet to taste defeat in the Currie Cup this season, with the Johannesburg side holding a one-point advantage having claimed a bonus point in all five of their wins.
This sets up a mouth-watering clash at Loftus Versfeld which will decide which team finishes the weekend at the top of the standings.
Although they did not have things all their own way in their 24-17 victory against the Cheetahs on Friday, Bulls captain Pieter Labuschagne was happy with the character his side showed to deal with the tricky weather conditions and determined Cheetahs outfit.
"We are very happy with the win, it felt like an old fashioned Currie Cup match, we had the weather and there were mistakes from both sides but there was also pressure coming from both sides.
"I think the Cheetahs played well and we played well at times as well and I m just very glad that the boys stuck to their guns and kept fighting," he said.
One area that stood out for Labuschagne was the defence, which will be crucial against the free-running Lions next week.
"I am very glad with the defence, especially in the first half. They put a lot of pressure on us and we got a few chances and we took them and put some points on the board.
"We just had that one slip just before half-time where we let them get over, but other than that I feel like it was a real good team effort and the coach had faith in us and the boys showed that they can handle the pressure," he added.
