Griquas target Pumas scalp
Fourie's team are still winless after five matches this season, but have been more competitive in recent weeks and managed to frustrate Western Province for much of their encounter at Newlands on Saturday.
The hosts pulled away right at the end of the game, and Fourie said that while he was encouraged by the effort from his team they still need to show they can put together an 80-minute performance.
"It was a great effort by the team, but we made a few decision errors in the second half especially the last 20 minutes and Province put us under a lot of pressure at breakdown time and we conceded too many turnovers in the last 15.
"We conceded three tries, one with the first yellow card for Carel [Greeff] and two when Jaco [Nepgen] was off the field. The decision on Carel was a bit harsh for me but you can't do anything about it.
"We know we are improving and it is just one game of 80 minutes, if we do everything right then it will come," he said.
He has set his sights on the home game against the Pumas this weekend as the best chance to get some momentum going and end their winless streak.
"We need a win this weekend against the Pumas in Kimberley, it is one of our best chances to win a game and the players know it so we will work hard on the training field again next week and I am sure we can turn it around," he said.
The key for Fourie is to keep composure throughout, with periods of 'madness' holding them back at times this season.
"Every week there is 10 minutes of madness, against the Bulls it was from the 30th to the 40 minute. In the previous games it was 60 to 70 minutes.
"We will be able to put it together I am sure and we are improving, it is just a case as I say to play one good game for 80 minutes," he added.
