Lions retain Ackermann, De Bruin combo

Attacking coach Swys de Bruin, defence coach JP Ferreira and strength and conditioning coach and Ivan van Rooyen have all put pen to paper for another two years.

“We are delighted that the contracting of our coaches is finalised and we can focus on the two competitions that we are taking part in as it brings stability and continuity to the union,” said Rudolf Straeuli, CEO of the Lions.

The union also boast the milestone of their Under-19 boss Joey Mongalo, who has been appointed defence coach of the Junior Boks.  

“We are honoured that some of our coaching corps get this type of recognition,” said Straeuli.

The Lions' player resources have also been boosted with scrumhalf Francois de Klerk and hooker Armand van der Merwe signing extension contracts.
