Robshaw grateful for O'Shea's support

The Red Rose became the first ever host nation to fail to progress from the pool stages at the World Cup and Robshaw's role as England captain is under scrutiny.

Ahead of his return to thePremiership, Robshaw spent a week in Rio to try and recuperate.

But since arriving back on these shores O'Shea has nurtured Robshaw back into the fold and the 29-year-old flank now believes he is fighting fit once more.

"I've never been managed before as well as I have this year," he said.

"Conor has been incredible. He has taken good care of me, whether that's putting you on the bench, giving you a week off, making sure injuries are up to date. It's all been hugely important and I now feel in a very good place.

"Post-World Cup the first month was pretty tough. Myself, and probably most of the England boys, going back to your club, your confidence has been knocked a bit.

"The World Cup is still lingering in the back of your mind. You look at the guys in the last month compared to that initial month and the English guys have picked up steam, got it out of their systems and are playing tremendously well.

"You look at them, and they have a smile back on their faces. There is no magical cure, you need time."

Harlequins are fourth in the Premiership league table as they chase a first crown since 2012.

O'Shea recently described his current squad as the "best" during his tenure and Robshaw agrees.

"Conor has expressed his frustration in the last couple of years for not being able to bring in some of those big names. But now when our teamsheet gets released you look around and it is pretty special," Robshaw added.

"That's across the board. That's what we've been needing.

"When we won the Premiership we had a very good side, but probably not the core squad. I think we've got a squad now. Guys can come in and out.

"Look at our tighthead props, we've got three incredible guys, so we can afford to keep everyone fresh and rotate. In the back row there are options. That's what it is about."
