Player ratings: Slim pickings

OPINION: Namibia arrived with high hopes, but soon became spectators of their own demise.

Yes, they put up token resistance and at times were good on defence.

However, they offered little in terms of attack.

Jan de Koning rates the Namibian players!

15 Johan Tromp:
Didn’t see much of the ball on attack, but on the handful of occasions he did have opportunities he was ineffective. Was just as poor on defence.
4/10

14 Chad Plato:
Did not get a single ball on attack and saw plenty traffic coming through his channel in the other direction – most of which he managed to stop.
5/10

13 Jacobus Greyling:
Had a couple of decent runs and made most of his tackles – missing just two.
5/10

12 PJ Walters:
Made a valiant effort, although it brought very little reward.
5/10

11 Lesley Klim:
Two runs for little reward, missed just one of his attempted tackles and generally emerged with his reputation intact.
5/10

10 Cliven Loubser:
What little possession he received was always under pressure. At least he made all nine his tackles.
7/10

9 Eugene Jantjies:
As Namibia’s most experienced player he did not provide the stability and leadership expected of him. Also missed more tackles than he made.
4/10

8 Adriaan Booysen:
Brave on defence, making all his tackles, and steady allround performance.
6/10

7 Muharua Katjijeko:
One of Namibia’s most productive forwards – making 10 tackles and missing just two.
6/10

6 Thomasau Forbes:
Five carries, six tackles and two turnovers – a great day at the office.
7/10

5 Tjiuee Uanivi (captain):
Worked hard on defence, making all his tackles, a couple of carries and winning his line-outs.
6/10

4 Johan Retief:
Put in a decent shift on defence and missed just one tackle. Also a couple of carries.
5/10

3 AJ De Klerk:
He was under constant pressure in the scrums and did very little else, apart from some tackles.
3/10

2 Louis van der Westhuizen:
His team’s most productive player – 11 tackles, missed just one, and won a turnover. Made three carriers. Struggled in the scrums.
7/10

1 Desiderius Sethie:
Also under pressure in the scrums and made just one tackle. Not a good day at the office.
3/10

Replacements:

16 Obert Nortjé (on for Van der Westhuizen, 76th minute):
Not enough time to be rated.

17 André Rademeyer (on for Sethie, 50th minute):
At least brought some stability to the scrums. Made all but one of his tackles.
6/10

Helped stabilise the scrums and made all his tackles, but also got yellow-carded.

Not enough time to be rated.

23 Johan Deysel (on for Walters, 50th minute):
Did not make the impact they expected of him and was pretty average on defence as well.
