Retallick saw red for a dangerous clear-out in All Blacks’ 38-31 win over Japan in Tokyo at the weekend.

Retallick will appear before an independent judicial committee on Tuesday, November 1, World Rugby said in a statement on Sunday.

He was red-carded for an offence contrary to Law 9.20(a) – charging into a ruck or maul.

The disciplinary committee that will hear the matter is chaired by Wang Shao-Ing (Singapore), joined by former international referee Donal Courtney (Ireland) and former international player Leon Lloyd (England).

New Zealand next play Wales in Cardiff, before taking on Scotland at Murrayfield and England at Twickenham.

All Black coach Ian Foster said his team needs to keep their heads during their Northern Hemisphere tour.

Foster said he had “no complaints” about the red-card decision.

“To be down to 14 men for the final 15 minutes, we just focused on the moment in front of us,” said New Zealand captain Sam Cane.

“The belief was very strong and we didn’t want to force anything, so stay disciplined, trust each other and work hard.”
