All Blacks prep for Hansen's departure

The coveted list includes the likes of British and Irish Lions coach Warren Gatland, Scotland coach Vern Cotter, Ireland head coach Joe Schmidt and All Blacks current assistant coach Ian Foster.

According to the New Zealand Herald, Warren Gatland is more likely to booked the job based on his success during British and Irish Lions' tour in New Zealand.

The NZRU Chief Executive Steve Tew told the New Zealand Herald: "Warren is an outstanding coach. He certainly wants to come back to New Zealand one day and he aspires to be the All Black coach. Clearly, he'll be considered,"

Gatland's contract with Wales comes to an end after the 2019 World Cup, however his recent fallout with New Zealand public has sort of knocked his relations with the locals.

On the other side fellow New Zealander Schmidt's contract also runs until 2019 World Cup and his recent success with Irelands and his win against the All Blacks in Chicago in November, has enhanced his chances of taking over the reins at the All Blacks.

According to the Irishtimes, Tew has revealed the NZRU have stayed in regular contact with New Zealander Schmidt.

"You’d have to ask Joe if he wants to apply for the job, but he’s obviously a very good coach," said New Zealand Rugby Union chief executive Tew.

"We’ll be having a conversation with our board in the second half of this year about the process that will run. Then we’ll make that known to everybody once it’s done and dusted,"

"I’m sure Steve will voice his opinion about who will be the next coach because he has invested a huge amount in this team," Tew added.
