Bok forward's future in doubt?

INJURY UPDATE: Springbok lock Lood de Jager’s future as a Test player has been put in doubt following his latest injury.

De Jager suffered a shoulder injury against the All Blacks in the Springboks’ 43-10 win over their arch rivals at the Wellington Regional Stadium on Saturday.

Winger and try scorer Cheslin Kolbe, lock Lood de Jager and utility back Aphelele Fassi all left the pitch injured in the historic victory.

De Jager went off with an injured shoulder, something he had struggled with throughout his career.

The same counts for Fassi, who had similar issues with his ankle and suffered another blow in that particular area again as he sat with a moon boot during the second half of the clash.

Head coach Rassie Erasmus said that Fassi and De Jager’s injuries could potentially be serious.

“We lost [Aphelele] Fassi and Lood [de Jager], who are both seriously injured.

“The big thing we take out of this match is not the score, but the fact that we are still in [the race for] the Rugby Championship.

“And that we’re in a good space regarding the world rankings at the end of the year for the World Cup [draw].

“It’s also important that South Africa sees that we believe in each other, and we can feel that the country believes in us”

He added, “I’m not sure what the extent of those injuries is.”
