Brown gets a role at New Zealand Rugby
NEWS: New Zealand Rugby is continuing with its restructure, and this time, they have appointed two new executives for 2026 and beyond.
Chris Kinraid has been named Chief Financial Officer, and Chris Brown is the Chief Commercial Officer.
Brown is a senior commercial leader with extensive experience in global brand marketing and customer strategy.
Most recently, he was the Chief Customer Officer and Chief Marketing Officer at McDonald’s Australia and a member of the global marketing team. He brings extensive experience in brand positioning, advertising, media, sponsorship and digital programs.
Kinraid was previously Chief Executive Officer of Hallenstein Glasson Holdings Limited and prior to that the Group Chief Financial Officer at KMD Brands. He brings deep financial and executive leadership experience and will play a key role in driving the delivery of NZR’s all-of-game strategy.
NZR Interim CEO Steve Lancaster will continue in the role while the Board progresses the CEO appointment process.

“Both roles attracted high-quality candidates from New Zealand and offshore. After a thorough process, the Board is confident these appointments strengthen the capability of our Executive team to deliver a successful, growing and profitable organisation,” NZR Chair David Kirk said.
“Over the past year, NZR has consolidated under one CEO and Executive team. Alongside a refreshed strategy, this has enabled the organisation to be more efficient, collaborative and accountable. The requirements for the CEO role have evolved over this period and the Board is taking our time to make the right appointment.
“Steve is doing an excellent job leading NZR through a period of transition. His understanding of the game, from community to high performance, is highly valued. He has the Board’s full support as he continues in the role.”
Brown and Kinraid will both join NZR’s Executive team at the end of February.
