Coles expect Welsh fireworks
Coles, speaking to the media at the team's training base in Auckland this week, said the All Blacks have had a good look at how Wales played in their 13-27 loss to England in a pre-tour warm-match.
While the game suggested Wales have made some adjustments to their game, Coles felt it will be a case of "pretty much the same" Welsh team that will arrive at Eden Park on Saturday.
"Their forwards were using the ball a bit more, not with their usual carries, so they are trying to bring a different skill set I reckon," Coles said in an interview on allblacks.com.
He added that the Welsh were pretty dominant at scrum time as well.
"They'll rate their chances up front, so it will be a good challenge for the group going out against them," the Kiwi hooker said.
"There's a little bit of new stuff, but still the traditional Welsh sides that base a lot of their attack off the set-piece."
However, the All Black hooker is adamant they will have the intensity and skill to deal with whatever the Welsh throw at them.
"I suppose it just comes back to nailing your role," the hooker said.
"There were a few things we worked on," he added.
"It was good having last week to get a few things going but we know it's keeping things simple this week and make sure we nail our role.
"The boys are pretty keen to build throughout the week and enjoy it," he said.
"If you cruise through the week and you don't have that intensity you might slip up at the weekend.
"There's a lot of excitement as well, the first Test of the year so everyone is pretty keen."
